C-Mine is a wonderful urban renewal project, built on the site of an old coal mine. Manitoba made four short movies, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of the C-Mine site. There’s one on the C-Mine Cultural Center that you can also watch on our site. Then there were movies about the creative economy that has sprung up on the site, about the school of arts that is located there and this one here about the touristic exploitation of the old coal mines.
In each of the movies we follow one particular person, who is co-creator of the movie because he or she is given a camera to chronicle his or her adventures on the site. In this case, a young girl puts a GoPro camera on her forehead and takes us deep into the old mine shafts.
